Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Andhra Pradesh earlier known as Institute of Administration was established in the year 1976 to serve the general training needs of the Civil Servants of the state. All the state governments in India have set up similar training institutes as per the recommendations of Administrative Reforms Commission setup by Government of India. The Institute was declared as an Apex and nodal agency for all training activities pertaining to Government.
The Accounts Training Wing of Treasuries and Accounts, Audit Training Wing of Local Fund Audit Departments were merged with the Institute
The erstwhile Institute of Administration, established in 1976, was renamed as the Dr.Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Andhra Pradesh in 1998 and is being made responsible for overseeing the state Government and GOI training initiative.
Dr. MCR HRD IAP is the apex Administrative Training Institute of the Government of Andhra Pradesh and is responsible for facilitating training and providing HRD inputs to all public functionaries of the State to achieve a CARING (Committed, Accountable, Responsive, Inspiring, Nationalistic & Genuine) Government.
