Dr. MCR HRD
Institute of Andhra Pradesh has set up Centre for Climate
Change & Environmental Advisory Services (CCCEA) in
September, 2009. CCCEA’s mission is to develop and impart
expertise and knowledge on issues relating to environment
and climatic change. Climate Change is a challenge of
immense proportions. Understanding and awareness regarding
the issue will go a long way in ensuring the preparedness
for its impact and taking up mitigation measures. Centre for
Climate Change and Environment Advisory Services is set up
to provide policy assistance to the State Government and
support to the public and private sector specifically in the
areas of

Training and Capacity Building

Policy Advocacy
·
Strategy Development
·
Action Research and Policy Input
·
Knowledge Management
The main objectives are
-
Act as a think-tank and help translate government goals, objectives and
policy priorities in climate change and environmental
management
-
Reform agenda into tangible policy and climate change adaptation actions
by AP and other states
-
Provide technical support and advisory services to state, municipal,
local governments, national and international
organizations in the areas of climate change and
environment.

Create a knowledge hub and document best practices and models in climate
change and environmental management.
The core
team of the centre is formed with qualified and experienced
professionals and academicians in the field of climate
change (Annexure I). In addition to this core team, CCCEA
has empanelled experts in different sectors related to
climate change and sustainable development who are working
with the Centre. CCCEA’s extended team consists of various
Academic institutions, NGOs and professional bodies that are
working with the common goal of protecting environment and
combating climate change across the nation.
Apart from
conducting several capacity building programmes on climate
change and sustainable development sponsored by DoPT GOI
(Annexure II) CCCEA has initiated several projects with
Government Departments and Urban Local Bodies in the field
of climate change (Annexure III).
Dr. MCR HRD
Institute of Andhra Pradesh is an apex Administrative
Training Institute certified as an ISO 9001:2000
organisation for its quality in the areas of Training,
Consultancy & Research. The institute has many strengths
(Annexure IV). Several officers from State Government,
Central Civil Services and All India services attend
capacity building programmes conducted regularly in the
Institute.
The
Institute houses many other centres like Urban Development,
Disaster Management Rural Livelihoods with expertise in
their respective fields and relevance to the issues related
Climate Change. Hence, co-ordination with various
departments and agencies for synergistic impact and
successful completion of the projects related Climate Change
can be best handled by Dr.MCR HRD Institute of A.P. The
Institute has been a convergence centre for many policy
making decisions. The institute has its district level units
where the interaction is possible with the grassroots
functionaries as well.
Taking into
consideration; the expertise, resource pool, vast
experience, state of the art infrastructure and learning
ambience make CCCEA at Dr MCR HRD an ideal place for
Trainings, Capacity Building Programmes, Seminars and
Conferences for information Dissemination as well as Action
Research Projects and Policy advocacy.
