| CENTER for Urban Development Studies |

| The CENTER for Urban Development Studies has been set up in Dr MCR HRD Institute in July 2001. The primary objective of the CENTER is to meet the training requirements of the Municipal Administration & Urban Development and other related departments in the State. The Human Settlement Management Institute of a HUDCO has established a HUDCO Chair in the CUDS. The CUDS is functioning with partial funding by HSMI of HUDCO and grant from the Department of Personnel & Training, Govt. of India besides funds received from the Govt. of A.P. through the Institute. |

| Functions of the CENTER for Urban Development Studies : |

To undertake training needs assessment of MA & UD and other related departments in the State |
 |
To develop an annual training plan for the concerned departments |
 |
To impart training required to the elected representatives and municipal functionaries of all levels of the MA & UD and other related urban departments |
 |
To impart required training to the Community Development Staff and Public representatives of Urban Local Bodies. |
 |
To organize orientation training on various programmes and schemes initiated by the Govt. in the area of Poverty alleviation, Social housing and sustainable development of Human Settlements. |
 |
To prepare training modules and undertake documentation of Best Practices in the subject area. |
 |
To undertake Research and Evaluation studies on various issues in the field of municipal administration and urban development. |

| During 2008-2009, the CENTER has conducted (26) training programmes covering (629) participants, includes a National level training programme on “Sales and Marketing Management for Micro Enterprises / DWCUA Groups” in collaboration with the HSMI of HUDCO, New Delhi. Another national level training programme on “Urban and Rural Development” has been conducted for IES Officer Trainees. The CENTER also facilitated a study visit to Hyderabad for international participants on Training on “Managing Cities in Developing Countries – Environment & Infrastructure”, conducted by HSMI of HUDCO |
